Object Essay Continued

So now after visiting the writing center twice, and getting some awesome advice from barry my writing center tutor and having my group conference with my class mates and Robin. I really do think that my Object Essay is pretty good for my first ever college essay. I have always been told that I can write pretty well, and I really believe that once I finally sit down and just start busting out thoughts and ideas from my head. I really think I can work words and sentences pretty well. Now someone who reads this (Robin) might think that I am pretty confident about my work, but after you grade my paper, it might show something different. I think it is very important to have confidence in your work no matter that be a paper, or a mowed lawn, or even a cleaned bathroom after many days or weeks of dirtyness. I just hope that my true hard work and me getting through problems while trying to finish this paper shines through. I guess we will see. I can only hope for the best.

Jordan's Blog

So this Object Essay has come at me a little more difficult than I expected. I did not know that thesis and paragraphing could be so challenging. Now, I'm not saying that it's something I can't handle, but because this essay is my first college essay, I find myself wanting to do very good on it, and complete it correctly. Following all the guidelines and criteria. In this essay were supposed to compare ourselves to an object. So I decided to compare myself to a Chevy Truck because it's hard working, dependable, and has special features that I think I possess as well. The length of the paper is supposed to be about 2 to 4 pages, but when I found myself sitting down and typing up all of my ideas and thoughts I was no where near 2 to 4 pages. I have thought of some ways to add length to my paper, and also just make it a better piece of work. So I hope I do good on this first essay.

Jordans Blog

Thesis......hmmmm! To some this is a very scary word full of unknown and alot of thinking. (Including myself). Others can simply sit down and write or type a paper full of points supporting their thesis of that particular paper. I find the whole process of trying to back up my theis in papers very challenging. I have always had a problem with it. I think I have had such a hard time with it because, there is no clear cut way to effectively execute it. To me you are just thrown out there and told to back up thesis. That doesn't do anything for me because I will probably just end up gettting mad and blow it off until the last minute, then I will work on it really fast and try and get it done. Which in conclusion turns out to be a horrible paper because I rushed through it so fast because I did't know what the heck I was doing. I hope that this year on all my papers I can do a good job with all the elements of writing. I also hope that thesis comes to me a little bit easier as I continue my education.

Political Cartoons

I look at Political Cartoons as a comical way to look at some pretty serious and intense top new stories in the headlines. These cartoons can be used to illustrate some events that are minor, maybe just for a small city, town, or county. But also they are usually used to illustrate much more major problems that effect whole countries or continents, or possibly even the whole planet. I think in our society we allow Political Cartoons because were sick and tired of seeing so many many scary or seriously disturbing stories on the news or in magazines. For once we some humor to be shed on some serious issues like stem cell research or, abortion, or same sex marriage, possibly even some war issues. But don't get me wrong, some political cartoons out there are just plain pointless, or totally rude and vulgar. Most people my age (including myself) don't even fully understand political cartoons because we usually aren't bothered by the world's issues at our age. We just want to think we understand them to look more mature or more intelligent.
