Missouri vs Oklahoma

For the past 2 years in the Big 12 Championship game it has been the same 2 teams battling for the Big 12 crown. Those teams are the Missouri Tigers vs the Oklahoma Sooners. This season Missouri dominated the Big 12 North with wins over Nebraska, Kansas State, and Colorado. There only blemish in Big 12 North play was a very close game that Missouri lost to their arch rival Kansas. So there season propelled them into the championship. On the other hand we have Oklahoma who went undefeated all year besides the early loss in the Red River Rivalry to the Texas Longhorns. After that Oklahoma went on to beat Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, and a pretty solid win against Cinderella story Texas Tech. In last years championship Oklahoma dominated Missouri on both sides of the ball. This years game was no different. In the game Oklahoma scored over 60 points for the 5th strait game which is a NCAA record. Oklahoma did come out victorious. It seems to me that the kryptonite of the Missouri Tigers football team are the Oklahoma Sooners. We can never beat them, they just always get dominated and I hate it. Yes I will agree that Oklahoma is the one of the top programs in the country, my only wish is that someday Missouri will beat them for a bog important game. If that happens I will cherish that win for a long time.

Portfolio Assignment

So last night ater I made all my revisions and tried and made sure my papers were up to par for the portfolio I realize that I then had to type up a 3 page paper telling them why I made the revisions I did and tell my strenghts and weaknesses of my writing. This assignment was pretty difficult and challenged me pretty well. All year I thought I was writing solid essays that met the criteria for an A paper...............boy was I wrong. My highest grade on all 3 of the papers was a 75 and its the paper that I spent the most time on and was the most serious and the one I most cared about. On the object essay I got a 69m, which again I thought was pretty low for all the work I put into. On the ad paper which is the one that I really thought I understood the most and could do a really good job and fill it with awesome detail and overall have a pretty solid paper..............wrong again I got a 52. So I guess I need to stop thinking that Im doing good on these papers and stop thinking I understand the material. So maybe if I have the mind set that I dont know what Im doing that will get me a higher grade. Overall I was pretty disappointed with my grading.

College Playoffs

In College football there is what called the BCS, which stands for Bowl Championship Series. This consist of 5 major bowls. They are The Rose Bowl, The All-State Sugar Bowl, The Fed Ex Orange Bowl, The Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, and finally the BCS National Championship Game. 8 teams will make one of the 4 bowls excluding the championship by there record on the year also there strength of schedule. Teams that can qualify for the national championship game have to be from one of the major conferences like The Big 12, SEC, ACC, Pac 10, Big 10 etc. Smaller more intermediate conferences like the MAC, WAC, Conference USA, etc teams in theses conferences have a harder time qualifying for the major bowls, becuase there strenght of schedule is never very high, or never is the same as the bigger more prominent teams. If a team in the major conferences goes undefeated then they should get an automatic bid in the national championship game, but there have been exceptions like 2003 when the Auburn Tigers when 13-0 and did not recieve a bid to the game, while a team with one loss did. Overall, the BCS needs to be reformed in some ways. So that in the future we can be certain that the top 2 teams in the nation will play for the college crown.

FInals Stress

Finals are never a calm time in any students life. Finals are the cumilation of all you have learned throughout the semester. You have to go back over all your notes, and packets, and past tests to try and be prepared for the final. There are many no stress tips that students can participate in. Whether or not they work, thats up to the person them self. Finals can also be a lifesaver if you are not doing so well in a class and you need to do pretty good on the final to raise your grade to a more acceptable grade then finals can do that. On the flip side finals can also hurt you because if you just go into a final cold turkey and do not study really or even at all then it could possibly cause you to fail the class which in turn will mean you will have to take the class again which is never fun. Finals are also a sign that a break is near, and if you get past the week of intense studying and nervousness then you will get to a much needed time of rest and relaxation, where you can spend some time with your family and friends that you havent seen in quite a while. So in a way Finals are a reward for what you have done all semester and what you have worked towards. Hopefully when you recieve your grade from your final, you are pleased with the result, or you are disappointed and realize you need to work and try harder.

Presidential Opinion

On November 4th 2008 Barack Obama won the election to be the 44th president of the USA. This is unique because he is the first African American male to win the presidential election. I do hope that in the next 4 years he does his best to turn on our country around and get us on the right track. I hope he figures this whole economy thing out, and he works on the national debt our country has, I hope he works this war out and figures out the best possible solution for the future. I wish that all the people who did not vote for him, will give him a chance and see what he can do for our beloved country. We dont know what he is capable of unless we give him a chance to either pass or fail. Lets not make pre assumed assumptions that he will automatically fail. I also hope that all that did not vote for him because of his skin color will look past that and realize he won, and we have to give him support in order for our country and for our population to be successful.

American Language Changing.

In todays world, the american language is changing dramatically. There are new words, and phrases being created on a daily basis. Many words most of us will never hear of nor will we use in a sentence or conversation. I would love to think of what a person from another country trying to learn the complex language we call our own. I mean the english language has so much slang that its hard for someone learning the language to know what word to use in a certain context or situation. I mean I can sit here and tell you many variations of the word car= vehicle, automobile, ride, wheels, whip and so on I mean the options are wide open. Im sure this confuses alot people trying to learn our language. Think of when you were in elementary school and you are learning new vocabulary words coming from a book authored by some old guy who thinks that todays youth is going down hill. When really you wont use any of those words, and instead will go home and watch nickelodian or cartoon network and mimmick what the characters say and start to use their words in your everyday life, because you want to branch out and be different and there is nothing wrong with that.

Do Words Matter

I think with words, there is a fine line that many people cant see when it comes to saying the correct term, politically correct term. This case is very evident when talking about african americans, should we say blacks, colors, minorities? I really don't know what is correct, or what african americans prefer to be called. This is also evident when talking about about females, when is the correct age to start calling a girl a woman, and how professional does a woman have to be before she becomes a lady, or does she have to be professional at all? I have abosolutley no idea. This is also can be said about when to stop calling a boy, a boy and start calling him a man, or when he actually becomes a gentlemen. What about when someone has a few pounds more than someone else on their body, obviously fat is inappropriate and would hurt there feelings, but should we say obese, or overweight? When it comes to someone being mentally challenged, I really dislike the word "retarded", and I dont, and I try to teach all my friends not to say it either. So I prefer the word disabled, or handicapped.
